Fall Brings About Change

It is officially fall.  What does fall generally represent?  It represents change.  Shedding the old preparing for a time of rest and then the rebirth or new beginning.  The same goes for marketing, it’s good to take this time and step back and look at what you have  been doing and seeing what you can shed and what new things you can start thinking about doing.

I’m doing something similar.  I am making some changes with my business.  It’s been almost two years since my last blog.  I really can’t believe it has been that long.  At first, not blogging wasn’t intentional, it just happened.  One month went by, then two, then three and so on.  Then of course we all know what happened in 2020.  I am not going to say anymore about that except it did zap my creativity for quite some time.  I am finally, going to get back to where I was in 2019.  Additionally, I have started posting weekly vlogs on my social media, this is something that was out of my comfort zone at first, but now I’m getting more comfortable.

So fall is a good time to reflect on what you have been doing and see what changes you can make for the new year quickly approaching.  One change you might make is start blogging if you haven’t been doing it.  Or, if you are like me (and I know there are an awful lot out there just by looking at website), who were blogging and stopped start it up again!

Blogging is important to do.  I never intended to stop, especially for two year.  I am the perfect example of if you let something go time slips away from you.  Pretty soon it’s two years later and you haven’t written a blog.

I do think blogs are important.  I just recently did a vlog on the importance of doing blogs, which is what kick started me back to doing them.  They help give your business credibility, they help create content for your social media and the can be very informative for you audience.

There are many things you can do with blogs, but I think the two most important are:

  1. Talking about your industry and becoming an expert in your field.  Whether you build things with your hands, or provide a service, you can blog about things going on in your field of expertise.
  2. Provide helpful tips on how to do things.  My business for example, talks about the importance of blogging, keeping your website up-to-date, posting on social media regularly, etc.  You can provide instructions on how to do certain things.  If you are in the automotive business, perhaps blog about things people can check, and replace, themselves to save money.  That will lend trust and credibility to your business.

The hard part about blogging is being consistent and sticking to it.  What is hard to do is coming up with original content that is helpful and people will want to read.  Unless you have a business that can provide an endless amount of content, monthly blogs are the best.  More than that would be a lot of writing and topics to come up with.  I certainly wouldn’t do any less than quarterly.

So, take advantage of the season and reflect on what you have been doing with your business and think about what positive changes you can make for the beginning of the new year.  As always feel free to reach out to me for questions.  I am always happy to answer any questions you might have.
